The Symbiosis College of Physiotherapy (SCOP) offers a contemporary, competency- based curriculum that is aligned with global standards. Students will receive extensive clinical training and exposure to a wide range of specialties in physiotherapy.

Physiotherapy practice spans the continuum from health promotion to prevention to rehabilitation for individuals and populations throughout their lifespan.

Physiotherapy diagnoses movement dysfunction based on skilful examination and evaluation, regardless of the cause or aetiology, and provides skilled therapeutic intervention to foster improvement in physical functioning and maximise overall quality of life.

Physiotherapists provide initial access to the healthcare system for persons with impairments and functional limitations amenable to physiotherapy and engage in collegial referral relationships with other healthcare professionals.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPTh)

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPTh) is a 5-year undergraduate program including a 1-year compulsory clinical internship as per the guidelines of the National Commission of Allied and Healthcare Profession (NCAHP). The program emphasizes foundational sciences, clinical reasoning, therapeutic techniques, and professional development.

Being a self-financed Deemed to be University, there are only two categories of admissions; (i) Merit Quota (85%) (ii) Institutional/ Management/ Discretionary Quota (15%). Other than these, there is no provision for reservations of any kind.

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy:

Physiotherapy: including general orthopaedics, trauma, plasty etc. Treatment of post fracture stiffness (including joint replacement), neck and back pain. Address physical challenges associated with pain, arthritis, repetitive strain injury, (such as tennis elbow). Ergonomics, Rheumatology. Aqua therapy (exercises in water) for treating various musculoskeletal disorders and in rehabilitation programs.

Neuro Physiotherapy:

To facilitate and maximize mobility with neurological disorders such as stroke, and spinal cord injury especially in the management of incontinence. Spinal Manipulation

Cardio vascular Physiotherapy:

Treat and manage cardiac conditions (both pediatric and adult) and provide cardiac rehabilitation following any heart attack or cardiac surgery. Hence, useful in ICU, ICCU, NICU, PICU etc.

Respiratory Physiotherapy:

including ICU, NICU, ICCU, PICU, etc especially in post COVID-19 patients.

Physiotherapy for Obstetrics & Gynaecology patients:

Feminine wellness. Provide pre- and post-natal care and other women's health conditions.

Pediatric Physiotherapy:

Treat children with pediatric conditions such as developmental delay, fractures, and cardio-respiratory issues.

ENT Physiotherapy:

Vestibular/Vertigo Disorders.

Sports Physiotherapy:

including prehab and sports training, performance enhancement etc. Treat sports injuries and provide advice on prevention and recurrence

There is a growing need for physiotherapy services:

a. Geriatric physiotherapy, the scope of geriatric physiotherapy is broad, encompassing various interventions to improve functional ability, reduce the risk of falls, and support overall well-being.

b. For cancer survivors. Consequently, Onco Physiotherapy (Physiotherapy services availed by Cancer Patients during and after treatment is progressively increasing in India) to help cancer patients manage the physical and functional challenges arising from cancer and its treatment.

c. Palliative care services (services provided for any advanced incurable diseases) by focusing on improving patients' physical functioning and quality of life, even in the face of significant health challenges. It addresses physical discomfort, pain, mobility issues, and fatigue, helping patients maintain or regain independence and dignity. By optimizing physical abilities and functional capacity, physiotherapists help patients navigate their illness journey with improved well-being.

Including geriatrics, Industrial Health Functional Capacity Evaluation etc. Physiotherapy thus plays a vital role in accelerating recovery, and enhancing overall physical & mental well-being and improving Quality of Life (QoL)
